Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

So after a loooong break I’m finally back in business. I hafe found a new book to add to my list of favorites. *Drum roll* Anna and the French Kiss! I have been trying to convince myself to read this book for about six months now but everytime I pass it up. Not this time and I am so glad I didn’t. Honestly I didn’t know what to expect out of this book. I was kind of afraid it woukd be you avaerage girl-forced-to-study-in-different-country book. I am pleased to announce: I was wrong.

The plot:  Anna Oliphant is shipped off to Paris, France to study there for her senior year of highschool. Anna is horrifed. She knows three French words (maybe) and is not a people person. When she arrives in France she meets a group of people who quickly become her good friends. Amoung those is French British American Etienne St. Clair. Anna quickly falls for him but Étienne has a girlfriend and Anna has a sort of boyfriend in the states. She hopes. So he’s totally off limits. At least that’s what she tells herself.

In case you couldn’t tell I loved this book. Five stars.

My second favorite Armentrout….COVENANT!! Now, before I start saying anything here I want to clear something up. There are many similarities in the first Covenant book (Half Blood) and the Vampire Academy book, however, this is the only book I recall parallels existing. After the start the story line pretty much flips around and is almost entirely different. So stomach the first book and read them all.

Note: I did not read Daimon(pronounced: Demon) or Elixir. I know this makes me a very bad fan but I didn’t even know about Daimon until I looked it up just now and Elixir would kill me in the feels so I just didn’t.

These are second, if not tied for first, on my overall Dude-I-Love-These-Books list. Alex is so smart-aleky and Aiden just plain lovely.

Summary:     Alexandria Andros and her mother ran away from Diety island three years ago. Just a few months(weeks days)before the books take place Alex’s mother is attacked by a Daimon and killed(turned into one). Alex herself is attacked soon after and would have died if not for Aiden St. Delphi. He and a few other Sentinels come to her rescue.  They take her back to her school but she’s so behind they threaten to make be a servant. Aiden steps in and says he’ll train her over the summer to get her caught up. And thus the romance begins! Alex is soon the best in class but thats not all, she’s one of two Apollyons when there’s only supposed to be one. Ares (yes the greek god Ares) wants to over throw the world so he tries to but Alex merges her powers with the other Apollyon’s and becomes the god killer. Of course she kills Ares and stops him from taking over the world but killing gods have to have consequences (even if all the other gods were the people who made you do it).

These books were hilarious. I read parts to my cousin when I was reading them and every time we see each other we’re like “meatballs tho”*. They seriously had my laughing out loud. They were different from anything I’d ever read. You don’t read much about gods and Apollyons while there’s a lot about demons and angels. It was fascinating to see how the author wove in greek culture to the story line.

*this particular section is found in Sentinel. It’s probably one of my favorite parts.

Ok so after like weeks of deciding which Armentrout series I have read to review I landed on…ALL THREE! Yeah, I’m a great decision maker…

Anyway, Lux is the first one I’m doing as it is the one I just finished and was thinking about first. It was not my favorite, honestly. I much prefer the other two (Daemon didn’t really do it for me) but that’s just my opinion. Not that it wasn’t good at all, it just wasn’t the best. It was interesting and different from anything else I’ve read before since I don’t ever read anything that has anything to do with aliens or Area 51. Lux is something I’d recommend to someone who likes to read about aliens but those that don’t usually might not find as drawing or fascinating.

Summary:     Katy Swartz moves from Miami to Nowheresville, West Virginia with her mother. Her new-very good looking-male neighbor, Daemon, is less than pleasant but his sister, Dee, is simply the nicest girl Katy’s met. She befriends Dee despite Daemon’s warnings to stay away from her. Daemon and Dee are both aliens and from personal experience Daemon believes that when aliens and humans have ANY type of relationship it ends in death and disappearances. As I’m sure you all guessed, Daemon’s keep-my-family-away-from-this-girl plan doesn’t really work out as he falls in love with Katy. The two become a very formidable pair against the people of the DOD and Arum(the enemies of Daemon) who want to study and kill the aliens respectively.

Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin

Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin

Araby Worth is the daughter of famous scientist whom invented the masks; the entire kingdom must wear these masks. She has fallen for Will and he is her main reason for going to the Debauchery Club. One night she is drugged and passes out on the floor of the library. A man named Elliot leaves her there and forgets about her.
April is Prince Prospero’s neice and Araby’s one and only friend. She is the reason for Elliot leaving Araby for someone else to find.
The Contagion is a disease that is killing most people in Prospero’s kingdom. Araby’s father may have created it. It killed his son.
Will is the person that checks people for the contagion before they enter the Debauchery Club. He is raising his two siblings since their parents died, barely scraping by with food. He finds Araby passed out on the floor and brings her home.
Elliot is April’s brother. He is planning a revolution against the Prince and needs Araby’s help to do it.
Araby is soon to find that what she thinks is a likely accident may really be not such an accident. Loss and Love battle in an all out war inside her as a fire kindles in the stability of humanity.
Betrayal, death, and lies combine with love, friendship, and family to create this epic tale. Griffin puts a fantastic spin on Poe’s Red Death and creates the most complicated yet simple charecters you will absolutely fall in love with.

“Living is in t…

“Living is in the details. You’ve got to appreciate the details.”- Rose Hathaway, Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

M’kay so anyone who reads the book really knows whats happening an those who don’t…um..don’t. So here’s a little: Rose is giving Dimitri a pep talk. I won’t say why cause I enjoy giving people mysterys to solve but it’s a VERY VERY big deal.

The Garden of Eve by K.L. Going

The Garden of Eve by K.L. Going

In this book the main character, Eve or Evie, moves to a house with an apple orchard in the backyard and a cemetery in the side. Evie meets “Alex the Great” and they go on an adventure to find out what happened to the late old owner of the house. The discover a sort of garden of Eden and “Alex” wants to stay there, since he’s a ghost. I don’t want to share much else in the story since I think surprises are awesome. So, you’ll have to read it if you want to know more.

North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley

North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley

I really enjoyed this book and I usually don’t enjoy any books that don’t have some kind of supernatural in them.
The book is about a girl named Terra Rose Cooper. She has a port-wine stain on her face from her temple to her cheek, I believe. Her father verbally abuses her and her mother kind of gave up. One day she meets(runs over in her car)Jacob Fremont, the Asian “goth”, and his mother and brother. The Fremonts were in a car so they weren’t injured. The only thing damaged was the cars. Terra and Jacob become friends and so do their moms. They all go on a trip to China where Jacob teaches Terra(unconsciously)that she shouldn’t be ashamed of her port-wine stain-which is a red mark that is pretty permanent. They fall in love bu Terra already has a boyfriend and she kisses Jacob. Not good. Her and Jacob stop talking, her boyfriend just stops coming ’round. Although it was her that actually dumped him. She tells Jacob she’s all in and that there’s no one else anymore. I think you can pretty much guess the rest of the book.

The Darkest Powers Trilogy

The Darkest Powers Trilogy

This is the Darkest Powers Trilogy. It is about Chloe Saunders, a necromancer, who gets sent to a crazy house, for teens, for seeing things, ghosts. There she meets seemingly impassive and kind of rude, Derek who know A LOT about paranormals and is also a werewolf, his foster brother, Simeon who is sweet, a sorcerer, and has a major crush on Chloe, Liz a half-demon with the power of telekinesis and Chloe’s best friend(before she dies)at Lyle House(the nuthouse), Tori a witch(the paranormal kind) who hates Chloe and has an obsessive crush on Simeon, and Rae a half-demon who has an attraction to fire and becomes Chloe’s friend after Liz dies.

Rae, Chloe, Derek and Simeon escape Lyle House and end up on the run looking for Simeon and Derek’s father. They do in the end find him and live happily ever after.

Hopeless Romantics(or if you just like romance novels)read on: Chloe, of course, does end up with one of the brothers. Now how many out there assume Simeon right off the bat? Hmmmm?

The Hush Hush Series by Becca Fitzpatrick

The Hush Hush Series by Becca Fitzpatrick

These books are about a girl, Nora, who meets fallen angel, Patch. These fallen angels aren’t like the ones in the Fallen series by the way. Nora and Patch fall in love and then find out Nora is the descendant of the Nephilim (half angels) army leader. The Nephilim and the Fallen Angels have been at war since forever. Then everybody(Fallen Angels and Nephilim)find out that Patch and Nora are together and they don’t like that very much. Nora’s biological father tries to take the memory of Fallen Angels away from Nora but not Patch. Patch asks him to take all of it away including him. So they take away her memory and lock her in the woods. Patch had no knowledge of the woods part I believe. He was pretty mad when he found out though, I’ll tell you that. After that is the big finale which I never put on here so I will leave it at that.

The Mortal Instruments Trailer

I do not know if copyright counts here but it was not intended. All credit goes to whoever made the movie and Cassandra Clare. This is the better trailer for The Mortal Instruments. I loved the books and I really want to see the movie. I hope you like it. I was not a big fan of how the put back Jace’s hair but he is still really cute.

Fallen by Lauren Kate

Fallen by Lauren Kate

The first book in the Fallen series, Fallen is thrilling, and it will keep you guessing. Luce Price is sent to a “school” Sword and Cross after her boyfriend bursts into flame. She is the only suspect and she doesn’t even understand what happened. At Sword and Cross she meets fallen angels(not that Luce knows)Arianne, who instantly befriends Luce, Daniel, who seems to be avoiding Luce and whom Luce seems to be drawn to for unknown reasons, and Cam, who is very nice to Luce.
Cam takes Luce on a date outside school and they end up in a bar where Cam beats up two drunk guys, for going for Luce, with inhuman strength. Daniel then has to explain that the school is mostly made up of fallen angels. Gabbe( a girl who turns out to be the Angel Gabriel), Arianne and Annabelle(who pass as sisters) are allied with God. Cam, Molly(who deosn’t like Luce) and Roland(a black angel who party’s a lot) are on the side of Satan. Daniel has no side. He tells her that he is cursed to love her and that every time they get close she bursts into flame before his eyes never reaching the age of 18. This time, though, Luce makes it past 17 despite Daniel telling her this and their kiss. They all focus on the fact that Luce has not been baptized so she will not return if she dies, making Daniel be frustratingly careful. The two sides of angels end up battling and the school librarian(Miss Sophia) leads Penn(Luce’s best friend) and Luce, both of which are the only mortals, away from the battle. miss Sophia turns out to be part of some Elders who want to tip the balance of good and evil once and for all by making Daniel choose a side. She kills Penn and attempts to kill Luce as well but Daniel saves the day! Along with Ariannne and Gabbe. Luce is told to allow herself to be taken to safety by Mr. Cole, a teacher who know the supernatural goings on. With a kiss and promise to see her soon from Daniel Luce is flown by helicopter to safety.

Also jumping through time are Shelby and Miles(Luce’s Shoreline friends), Arianne, Gabbe, Cam, Roland, and Molly(yes, even Molly). Apperently when Lucifer fell and took his angels with him, all the angels were forced to pick a side and Daniel and Luce chose each other. Now they are forced to pick a side or loose something extremely precious at the risk of another even more precious thing.

Teardrops: Not yet out.

Crazy Aura

“I gestured to SUV around us as if to say, ‘We’re heading in to Nowheresville, Pennyslvania, to find the hidden laboratory of a government agency, so we can rescue my boyfriend and send him on the first plane back to Scotland.’ Megan takes the bag of cheese puffs from me and says, ‘Good point.'”-Jeri Smith-Ready, Shine

Okay, so this was funny because they were talking about how crazy something Aura, the ‘I’, wanted to do and she said this, I mean that is seriously crazy! What their now, it really doesn’t get any crazier than that.

Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready

Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready

This is the first book in the Shade trilogy. Shade, Shift and Shine. The books are good if not kind of romance for the main story line so everyone who doesn’t like romance be forewarned. In the books Aura’s boyfriend, Logan, dies suddenly turning him into a ghost. aura can see ghosts and talks to them so he haunts her, of a sort. Then she meets a Scottish guy named Zachary, something way more complicated in his language though. They fall in love, of course, but Logan is still a ghost and he knows so he kind of gets jealous. He gets super mad at Aura and goes shade. That is pretty much all I can say except: Aura’s the First and Zachary’s the Last which means they both have some kind of powers. It’s kind of cool. If you want anymore info you have to read the book. The DMP goes after them so they can use them as lab experiments. They were very interesting and I seriously could NOT stop reading!
