This is probably one of the best books I’ve read this year. Being a music person I loved the piano bits if the book but I know it annoyed some others that have read the book. I just loved this whole book. It would make a perfect K-Drama in that it kept you going till the very last pages and had all the proper rollercoaster feels.
Sophie’s father moved to Paris last August. Her parents get divorced and a few months later her dad calls saying he’s gettinv married and wants Sophie and her brother to come to Paris to be there. Her dad wants them to stay all summer but Sophie has to practice her piano assignment during the summer so she can get that scholarship. Her father promises that he’ll have a piano there for her to practice and her mom says it’ll be a great opportunity. So Sophie is shipped off to Paris for the summer. There she meets her new stepmom (a lovely lady), her new stepsister (a not so lovely lady), and Mathieu (extremely good looking but a complete jerk). And her dad lied: he doesn’t have a piano and doesn’t plan to get one either. Lucky for her Mathieu seems to want to share his. The question is can she stand him for that long?
I did it. I actually read the book. As if the movie didn’t make me cry hard enough. It’s a great book really, just it hits you right in the feels.
Lou is a bit…strange. Even to her family. Everyone says she’s got potential but when she loses her job and must go to the Job Center for a new one it sure doesn’t feel like it. She works one job and another until she stumbles across a job add for a living assistant. Lou it automatically against the job (there will be no ‘wiping bums’ in her future) but the pay is good (amazing) and she’s quickly running out of ways to support her mother, father, and grandfather. So she takes it. Completely different from her original expectations, the person she’s caring for is neither old, nor scary. However he is downright horrible. He’s disagreeable and stubborn. Lou suffers through learning to deal with Will Traynor and put up with all his unfortunate moods. Then she finds out Will’s plan and everything changes. She becomes determined to show him that there IS something worth living for. But Will is difficult to convince….
This book was amazing. It sucked you right in and made you go right along for the ride whether you were fully willing or not. It had me crying, with laughter and sadness, and wishing for a happy ending for Lou. It’s definitely worth the read.
This book I read this last week. It was the one I read after Anna and the French Kiss. This one was also very good. I forgot how much I like the books where the characters are exploring different countries.
This book is about Lucy, a born actress. Her father thinks acting is a very bad career choice with all the rejections that could happen and how hard it is to get started. So he bribes her with a trip across Europe. She can go, it’ll be fully funded too, she just had to go to the school he chooses and major in Business. Lucy jumps on it frightened of being rejected as well. On the Italy part of her tour she meets Jesse and over the course of a few days falls in love with him. She leaves him in Italy and starts her college in Pennsylvania. After a few months she gets new friends and a boyfriend but then Jesse comes back and Lucy can’t seem to deny him. Jesse keeps encouraging her to do what SHE wants not what her father wants for her.
I really liked this book. It wasn’t as good as Anna and the French Kiss in my opinion but it’s still worth the read.
So after a loooong break I’m finally back in business. I hafe found a new book to add to my list of favorites. *Drum roll* Anna and the French Kiss! I have been trying to convince myself to read this book for about six months now but everytime I pass it up. Not this time and I am so glad I didn’t. Honestly I didn’t know what to expect out of this book. I was kind of afraid it woukd be you avaerage girl-forced-to-study-in-different-country book. I am pleased to announce: I was wrong.
The plot: Anna Oliphant is shipped off to Paris, France to study there for her senior year of highschool. Anna is horrifed. She knows three French words (maybe) and is not a people person. When she arrives in France she meets a group of people who quickly become her good friends. Amoung those is French British American Etienne St. Clair. Anna quickly falls for him but Étienne has a girlfriend and Anna has a sort of boyfriend in the states. She hopes. So he’s totally off limits. At least that’s what she tells herself.
In case you couldn’t tell I loved this book. Five stars.
I’m sorry to everyone who follows me for my books. I haven’t been reading anything but Armentrout as I’m stuck in a rut right now. You know how you read a book and you get into it so much that when it ends you’re just like “WHY?!” so you keep rereading it over and over again until you find something just as good? Yeah, thats me. Only the new ‘good’ has to compete with three full series. So I’m still looking. Sorry for not having read anything that I haven’t already talked about. I’ll work on that. Thanks for your patience and understanding. ^^
Star–Lee Hi Knee–IU Toy–Block B I Am You, You Are Me–Zico
These four songs are also pretty random.
Star is just the feeling of being in love with someone when they are your everything. Note: the guy in the video is actually One from SMTM4 and I was all WHAAAT when I found out cause man he’s good looking there and if there were a rapper that pretty I would’ve remembered. (The power of makeup)
Knee is a song about wanting to have the simplicity and be given the unconditional love that children have. Wanting to go back when you didn’t know anything about pain or trials.
Toy is catchy and about a relationship where the guy is saying ‘I’ll be anything you want me to, do anything just don’t leave me’. If I remember correctly.
Zico is in the band Block B. His song is about being in love with someone who doesn’t want you back and saying ‘You can say whatever but we’re similar.’ He’s kinda telling that no matter how she denies it they’re the same.
Doubt–Mary J Blige+Taylor Swift Goodbye–Avril Lavigne Youth–Troye Sivan Rise–Selena Gomez
For this week I picked a bunch of random songs. Usually I pick a theme but I did not today.
The first song is Doubt. This song was sang originally by Mary J. Blige. Taylor Swift got permission to sing it at her concert and invited Mary J. Blige to join her. I really fell in love with this song. Everyone doubts themselves at some point and needs a little encouragement.
Goodbye is just a sad song that I wanted to post because its pretty. Sorry.
Youth is a catchy song and it’ll ‘help you recover from the feels’ of the last one as my cousin told me.
Rise is also an inspirational song about being able to overcome. I think it goes with Doubt really well since you have to first have faith in yourself then you can Rise above your past.
The White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter are the books for today! These were exceptional books, I have read them twice. The story was so fascinating, although Through the Zombie Glass made me a little mad. As many books do. A Mad Zombie Party surprised me. The Queen of Zombie Hearts was supposed to be the last one but then A Mad Zombie Party came out and normally I get frustrated with that, like if you write a series and you say it’ll only have three books, keep it to three books, but when I figures out what it was about I was not angry anymore….I was excited. Very excited. I have always been a Frosty girl myself(but he’s not better than Cole) so seeing this book I was like “YES!! She’s gonna fix his broken heart, thank the Lord!”
Summary: Alice(Ali) Bell was told never to go outside at night, especially not near cemetaries. But when her little sister has a dance recital that she’ just DYING to go to Ali convinces her mother and father to take them. Then, on the drive home, everything she’s ever known comes crashing down and reveals the one thing she refused to believe: her father’s monsters DO exist. She moves, gets a new school, and meets Cole Holland whom she is undeniably *eh hem* drawn to. Ali and Cole team together(along with his other friends) to fight these monsters. But, wait a minute, Ali’s special. She can do things that the others can’t. She starts going insane, her and Cole break up and get back together and eventually eveything ends up okayish. But Ali looses some crucial parts of her new life. She has to discover new and hold on to the things she knows are true.
The last book is about Frosty, a subcharacter in the original three, and his dealing with a very painful loss. He resists falling for the very person he feels destroyed his life but can’t seem to help it.
Amber — Borders Avril Lavigne — Innocence Selena Gomez — Revival Eric Nam — Love Yourself(Justin Beiber Cover) with Sungha Jung
I didn’t really know where to put this song because it’s techinically by a Korean artist, however, it’s in english so I put it here. This song has a beautiful message and was sung and rapped beautifully by such a talented person. Yes, that is one person singing and rapping even though it doesn’t sound like it. Just as a fun fact Amber produced, wrote, and sang the song on her own. She even produced the video herself.
Another Avril Lavigne song, this one sort of bittersweet. It reminds me of those moments after the storm where you take a step back and are like ‘what have I done to deserve this life’ in a beautiful moment that you appreciate all the more because of the storm.
Selena Gomez’s new album is definitely one of her better ones. It’s much more personal and less like every other thing out there. It has more of her story in it. Revival is something every person can relate to.
The last song is a Justin Bieber song covered by Eric Nam. I like this version a lot even though I like Justin’s original version too.
Gummy-You Are my Everything BTS-Just One Day Block B-A Few Years Later Red Velvet-One of These Nights
Obviously the first song is from a show that I am watching right now called Descendants of the Sun. the drama is about a Special Op Captain, Song Joongki(bae is back!!!), and a doctor, Song Hye Kyo, who fall in love. It’s a really good show, but it does have it’s bloody scene(as all shows featuring the military and doctors tend to). It’s one of my favorite dramas in a while(and that only has a little to do with the fact that Joongki is in it…). Honestly, I’m re-watching all the episodes that I’ve already watched on days when the new episodes aren’t posted just so I can watch it, and Joongki, everyday.
The second song is by a band that is slowly, reluctantly, becoming a favorite, BTS (or the Baby Gangsters as my family likes to call them). It was in a drama but I can’t remember which. I liked the song from the drama but never looked it up until i heard it a couple days ago on a youtube mix and then was like ‘I really like this song whose it by?’ The Baby Gangsters were not who I was expecting.
The third song is Block B’s comeback song. A quick youtube search of Block B will tell you that they do NOT typically do ANYTHING like this kind of music. That’s why many Block B fans were so surprised. The band has come so far and they’ve improved so much since the last comeback it was astonishing.
The last song is by Red Velvet. This is one of the first slow songs I have heard out of them and it really shows off their talent. May I just say that poor Wendy looks like a strawberry shortcake… But Joy looks really pretty and sophisticated with her new short hair.
“Yeah, I’m great. Nothing like witnessing a death match between gods when I’m trying to get some Cheetos. -Deacon”-Deity by Jennifer L Armentrout
Do you ever feel that way? Deacon meant literally but sometimes it can be figurative too. Like you go for Cheetos and your younger siblings are battling it out on minecraft(which you cant play) and it’s so epic you just can’t even. True story.
“Doing my thing like a chicken wing.” – Luc from Lux by Jennifer L Armentrout
Can I just say that was pretty much the funniest line I have read in ever. I instantly had to share with my friend and she laughed so hard she almost died. Seriously though we all need to own it so hard we can honestly, sincerely say that we are indeed ‘doing our thing like a chicken wing.’
Butterfly by BTS Story by Park Shin Hye Don’t Cry by Park Bom
All that’s really to write this time is that Story is from a show called Heirs or the Inheritors and that’s what the video clips are taken from. Park Bom is in a band called 2NE1.
